Why You Should Always Remember to Buy the Domain

The internet is one of the fastest growing industries and everyone wants a piece of it. There are more and more big budget companies coming online every single day. The internet used to be a place where some one with no budget could come online outsource a bit of work and make a few bob or turn themselves into overnight millionaires, but the industry is getting more and more competitive as the days go by.

I mean there are literally only a few ways to make a successful online business these days. The first is to have a million dollar budget behind of you and invest all of that budget money into marketing all over the place. The second would be to do something innovative that has never been done before and will catch on, and the third element would be to tap into online traffic sources such as Google and social sites, which can end up costing quite a bit of investment initially, unless of course you know what you are doing.
Saying all of this it may still be hard to outwit some of the bigger companies which have huge offline and online budgets behind them. But there are also a lot of mistakes that big companies make and one of them is announcing a new product or section of the department without purchasing the domain name first.

Again an example of this is best directed at movies, I mean big block buster's where they know that they are going to make a sequel and even a third or fourth film. They never ever buy the domain names and then end up buying one that is not brandable at all.

I mean how much does a domain actually cost to register, it's not as though they would be losing huge amounts of money, even if there was not a sequel. Another great example is Sony announcing the new PSP Go, although this domain was registered only two month prior, why did they not buy the domain name first.

Big companies have to begin thinking more about the brand because if they do not then they could be the ones that end up losing out to the smaller companies and individuals. It all comes down to branding in the end, the future of the online industry is branding and you need to know how to do this well to succeed. You have to start thinking about things online a lot more.
